Q: How do I care for my carpet after it is dyed?
A: After you carpet is thoroughly dry, it should be vacuumed
well. This will remove any excess dye that has dried around the
tipes of your carpet fibers. Your newly dyed carpet can be safely
cleaned. As with an fine carpet be sure to use only high quality
cleaning products. Remember your carpets should be professionally
cleaned every 6-18 months depending on the traffic levels in your home. |
Q: What preparations should I make?
A: Small items and breakables should be cleared from the room, and the
carpets should be vacuumed. If you are moving the furniture, be
sure not to block our access to the room. We will need easy
access to the room to bring in equipment that we will be using.
If
you plan on walking on the carpet within a few hours after we finish,
you should have an old rug or towel ready to wipe your feet so that you
will not track dye onto other areas. After a few hours, this
track-off will stop even though the carpets may still be damp.
|
Q: What about your guarantee?
A: Our dyes are permanent and colorfast. Your new color will
never wash out or track-off. And that's GUARANTEED FOR THE LIFE
OF YOUR CARPET as long as it is Professionally maintained on an annual
basis by Professional Carpet Systems.
|
Q: What about allergic reactions to the dyes?
A: Our dyes are basically the same as those used to dye new carpeting
at the mill. They have been used to dye over 50,000 homes and
apartments throughout the United States. They are completely free
of any hazardous ingredients.
|
Q: What about the furniture?
A: The
dyeing process requires that we have all furniture removed from the
room. We can help you to remove the furniture or you can move it
on your own. In the event that you move the furniture please make
sure that you leave enough access to the room for our specialists to
enter and bring in their equipment. Furniture will need to remain
off the freshly dyed carpet until it is completely dry.
|
Q: How long does it take to dry?
A: Drying time is dependent on the thickness of your carpet, outside
humidity, ventilation in the room and the amount of liquid necessary to
dye your carpet to the color you have chosen. While we extract
most of the liquid with a vacuum before we leave, a thick carpet will
stay damp for up to 24 hours. Flat or low-pile carpets
should be dry in 8 - 12 hours. Air-conditioning or fans
will speed drying time. Remember, you can walk on your carpet while it is wet with no harm to the dye.
|
Q: How long does it take to do it?
A: We can clean and dye the average living room, dining room, stairs and hall in about two hours.
|
Q: How do you protect my walls and floors?
A: A system of shields is used to prevent the dye from staining your
walls or baseboards. If dye should get on your baseboard, we can
safely remove it with a chlorine bleach solution.
The
amount of liquid used to dye your carpet is carefully controlled so
that the dye seldom penetrates the backing of your carpet, let alone
the pad underneath. Therefore, the floors below the carpet will
remain untouched.
|
Q: What about stains?
A: Many stains will lighten considerably when we clean your carpets
prior to applying the dye. However, with the techonolgy available
today our cleaning specialists are able to remove almost all
stains. In the event that there is staining those that remain
will be hidden completely if we use a dye that is at least as dark as
the stain. The finished look of your carpet will be an even
color, even if you have areas that have been faded by the sun, bleach
or pets.
|
Q: What color choices do I have?
A: That depends on the weave of your carpet, and its present
color. Generally, the lighter the carpet, the more choices you
have. A pastel carpet can be dyed to just about any color; gold
can be dyed to rust, green or brown; blue and green can usually be dyed
to dark brown; and you can always dye a darker shade of your present
color.
It
is seldom possible to change color if your carpet is dark blue, dark
green, brown or bright red. However, different shadings of those
colors could be achieved. For example, a red carpet could be dyed
to maroon.
The weave of your carpet and the number of
"dye-sites" on each fiber shaft also impact the effect of our
dyes. For these reasons, we always dye a small sample of your
carpet before starting the job.

|
Q: Can you dye all types of carpet?
A: We can dye most nylon or wool carpet, wheter it is shag, plush, or
cut-pile. Chances are, your carpet is made of nylon, the most
popular carpet fiber. Certain other fibers, such as acrylics,
require dye temperatures too high to be practical fo on-the-floor
application. We always test a sample of your carpet to insure
that our dyes will be permanent and colorfast.
